The HubSpot Credit Consumption Reference

What actually consumes HubSpot Credits, how many, and how to estimate a month — in plain English, for the moment credit usage comes up on a call.

Abstract

In June 2025 HubSpot folded its AI and data usage into a single currency — HubSpot Credits — and reps are still routinely caught flat-footed when credit usage comes up. This reference gives the plain-English answer first, then the facts behind it: what credits are, what you get included by tier, exactly what each action costs from HubSpot’s official rate sheet, worked monthly estimates, and how to monitor and cap usage. Rates are current as of July 2026 and change often — always confirm against HubSpot’s Products & Services catalog before quoting a number.

1 The answer you can give on a call

Most of the confusion disappears once one distinction is clear: credits are for AI and Data Studio, not for using HubSpot. The CRM, email, forms, standard workflows, lists, and reporting do not touch credits. Only a specific set of AI and data actions do.

The 20-second version

HubSpot Credits are a monthly usage currency for AI features and Data Studio — not for normal CRM, email, workflows, or reporting. You get an included allowance based on your highest subscription tier (500 / 3,000 / 5,000 for the core Hubs; up to 10,000 for Data Hub or Customer Platform). They reset every month and don’t roll over. Only specific actions burn credits: AI agents, Breeze actions in workflows, buyer intent, and Data Studio dataset syncs. At $0.01 per credit, the two that add up fastest are frequent Data Studio syncs (25 credits each) and the Prospecting Agent (100 per lead).

2 What HubSpot Credits are

  • One unified currency. The old “Breeze Intelligence Credits” were merged into HubSpot Credits in June 2025. There is now a single balance for AI and data usage.
  • Monthly, use-it-or-lose-it. Credits reset every month on your usage-period start date. Unused credits expire and do not roll over.
  • Paid seats only. Only Core, Sales, Service, and Revenue Seats (and Partner Seats) can consume credits. Free and View-only users cannot.
  • Priced at $0.01 each. Extra credits are $10 per capacity pack of 1,000, or Pay-as-You-Go at $0.010 per credit (billed in increments of 10).
Cost translation

Because one credit is one cent, the rate sheet doubles as a price list: 10 credits = $0.10 · 25 = $0.25 · 100 = $1.00 · 1,000 = $10.00. A month that burns 20,000 credits over the included allowance costs about $200.

3 What you get included

Every seat-based account includes a monthly credit allowance set by your highest subscription tier. You only pay when usage exceeds it.

Data Hub or Customer Platform5005,00010,000

The allowance is per account, not per seat, and it is the single largest reason two similar companies see very different credit bills: a Data-Hub-Enterprise account starts with 10,000 free credits a month; a Marketing-Starter account starts with 500.

4 The rate sheet — what consumes credits

These are the credit costs from HubSpot’s official Products & Services catalog, grouped by category. Everything not on this list — standard CRM, email, forms, non-AI workflows, lists, dashboards, reporting — consumes no credits.

Two things the rate sheet doesn’t say out loud

First, some features charge per recurrence — they consume credits on activation and again every month the feature stays enabled, not just once. Second, agent actions can incur additional service charges on top of credits (telephony minutes, SMS). Using a dataset in a report does not consume credits — only syncs, workflow/segment use, and exports do.

5 Estimating a month

The rate sheet only becomes intuitive once it is multiplied by volume. These are the scenarios that come up most, against the included allowance from Table 1.

Table 3 — Worked monthly estimates (credits, and cost at $0.01/credit).
ScenarioMathCredits / moCost / mo
Data Studio sync, every 15 min, one dataset96/day × 25 × 3072,000$720
Data Studio sync, hourly, one dataset24/day × 25 × 3018,000$180
Prospecting agent on 200 leads200 × 10020,000$200
Customer agent resolving 500 conversations500 × 5025,000$250
Data agent, 1,000 prompts1,000 × 1010,000$100
Content agent, 50 pieces50 × 1,00050,000$500
Buyer intent on 300 companies300 × 103,000$30

Read the top row against the allowance: a single 15-minute Data Studio sync consumes 72,000 credits a month — more than seven times a Data-Hub-Enterprise account’s entire 10,000 included, before any other AI is used. This is the single most common credit surprise, and it is the one worth pre-empting on a call.

6 The four that surprise people

  • Frequent Data Studio syncs. At 25 credits each, cadence — not data volume — is the cost driver. Every 15 minutes is ~72,000 credits/month per dataset. Four objects on that cadence is ~288,000. Recommend daily or hourly unless real-time is genuinely required.
  • The Prospecting agent at 100 credits per lead. Cheap for a pilot, expensive at scale: 1,000 leads is 100,000 credits ($1,000/month).
  • The Content agent at 1,000 credits per piece. The most expensive single action on the sheet; a modest content program can outrun a large allowance quickly.
  • “Per recurrence” features. Anything that keeps producing output (some intent and monitoring features) charges again each month it stays on — the cost is not a one-time activation.

7 Monitoring and capping usage

Every account can see exactly where credits go and put a ceiling on them. This is the second half of the answer for a nervous buyer: the spend is visible and controllable.

  • See usage. Account name (top right) → Account & BillingUsage & LimitsHubSpot Credits. The usage log shows which features and tools consumed credits this month.
  • Set a limit. Define a monthly credit ceiling so usage cannot silently run past a threshold.
  • Choose the overage behavior. Auto-upgrade adds a capacity pack ($10 / 1,000) for the rest of the term when you exceed the limit; Pay-as-You-Go instead bills only the credits used beyond the limit that month ($0.01 each, in increments of 10) and resets to your original limit next period.
The reassurance

Credits cannot run away unnoticed: usage is itemized in the log, a monthly limit can be set, and overages are opt-in behaviors the admin chooses. The honest framing for a prospect is that credits are a metered, controllable line item — not a surprise on the invoice — provided someone owns the limit and reviews the log.

Credit rates, included allowances, and pricing are taken from HubSpot’s Products & Services catalog (HubSpot Credits Rate Sheet) as observed in July 2026. HubSpot changes these frequently, and some rates carry future effective dates — always confirm the current numbers in the catalog and in your account’s Usage & Limits before quoting a figure. Beta features may change or begin consuming credits with limited notice. HubSpot, Breeze, and Data Studio are trademarks of HubSpot, Inc.
